Hairspray (2007)

Rated PG-13 for mild language. Honestly, your kids can hear this one.

The innocence and charm of our 69th Next 100 Project podcast is one of the most delightful modern musicals. John Travolta, Nikki Blonsky and the entire cast, really, are splendiferous. Plus, it might be clumsy about it, but the movie has something to say about race relations and body image. Drink this one in while you drink some Sparkplug Coffee.

For The Record: Corny does invite anyone up on stage who wants to dance in the last scene, but we still question that he meant grown-ups like Edna…or that anyone wanted Edna to be the centre of attention for 2 or 3 minutes on a kid’s show.
