I didn’t know until about a year ago that Rod Serling was involved in the writing of Apes, but it totally makes sense considering that great twist ending. I think this film is certainly worthy of making the main AFI Top 100 list. Perhaps on the 20th anniversary edition in 2016. In the meantime, I wonder how Maurice Evans would have felt about making this list:
